Yellow Pigment from Fast-growing Marine Soil Bacteria Citricoccus sp. for Dyeing Cotton Fabrics

Aims: The study’s objective is to isolate, characterize pigment-producing bacteria from marine soil and optimize culture parameters such as pH, temperature, carbon, nitrogen sources enhance the pigment production. obtained was used dye cotton fabrics woollen thread.
 Place Duration of Study: samples were collected Marina beach, Chennai, Tamil Nadu study carried out at Department Animal Biotechnology, Madras Veterinary College, between January 2021- April 2021.
 Methodology: From sample fast-growing yellow pigmented isolated morphological characteristics observed. Gram staining, biochemical test, sugar fermentation motility test performed 16S rDNA sequencing done. Pigment extracted through solvent extraction method, characterized UV-Spec FTIR. phytochemicals done conditions optimized bring maximum yield. then threads.
 Results: yellow-pigmented identified Citricoccus sp. confirmed carotenoid compound optimizing conditions, production increased significantly. thread dyed effectively uniformly with use copper sulphate(CuSO4) mordant. 
 Conclusion: result this reveals that a bacterium capable producing higher amount in 24-hour period. Since it be compound, safe dye. process cost-effective economical, can expanded explore potential applications textile dyeing industries.
